Halloween/Fall 2023

Every year we have tried to do some kind of theme dress up as a family. We’ve actually done Peter Pan before back in 2012 when I was pregnant with our fifth kiddo, but that night turned into a disaster as we had to rush Kai to the emergency room!

He was so little! And Canon was not happy about something! lol Sweet Corban’s face…gosh I love these kids! My belly is behind Canon but I remember feeling SO huge!!!

Anyway, that night Kai had been pushing/running his toy truck up the driveway and hit a ridge in the concrete that stopped the truck but sent him flying over the top of it. I can remember the cries and the rushing and the blood.

I was on bedrest with Crew at the time trying to avoid going into labor too early, so Matt’s mom was there to help us out. She took the other kids, while I rushed Kai to the ER.

Matt caught up to me about an hour later and it took the both of us to hold him down so they could stitch him up. I remember Kai was in a straight jacket screaming “I hate you!!!” while the ER doc was sewing him up….and her phone rang, she pulled it out of the pocket while holding onto the needle in the other…told Kai to “hold on” and then she answered the call mid-stitch!!! I couldn’t believe her ability to multitask like that! Or maybe better translated…I couldn’t believe she was multitasking at a time like that!!! haha

One of our sweet neighbors came over that night to bring a stuffed puppy for him. She was a nurse too so she bandaged up the puppy’s chin so it would match Kai’s. (I’m going to have to hunt for a photo of that puppy!)

All of that to say, it was not at all a night to want to remember…so we felt it was finally time to re-theme that year and do it all over again this year!

This year we have TWO little Tinkerbells…and I can hardly wrap my mind around just how big they’ve all gotten!

I’m so grateful for this huge family of mine! And for no recent ER visits! haha I always joke that I want the ER to give us a punch card–after the third visit the fourth is free! lol

South Texas has a huge cold front right now, so we’ll be carving pumpkins with friends tonight with cider and popcorn and fun movies…would love to know your plans!
