A handful of playlists for the seasons of an ordinary life, from quiet work mornings to summer nights with the people i love.

What I'm listening to

in my ears

Bible Folk

i

I love music that points me to Jesus without anyone sounding like they are yelling at me. The playlist is mellow, singer-songwriter at heart, the kind of thing I keep on low in the background while I work, write or move through an ordinary day. It is worship that settles rather than performs.

MyPlaylist

Spotify built this one by blending my oldest son's favorite songs with mine, so it is part his taste, part mine, and not all of it is woship music. This is our roud trip playlist, the soundtrack to long drives and the windows-down kind of talking that only seems to happen in the car. I trreasure the years I have him next to me, and this is the sound of them.

Kai & Meg

I made this dueing our trauma season, and if you find yourself in a hard place in your journey, this playlist will welcome you with open arms. I listened to it on repeat for three years, longing deeper and deeper for the presence of the Lord in my suffering. To sing in the night to the Lord, to grieve and lament and then be moved to worship with a heart stance of "thy will be done," is one of the most profound movements I have known on this earth. This playlist ushered me into the presence of the Lord on the darkest of nights.

Song in the Night

iii

When we are spending time with our closest friends on warm summer nights, this is our go-to. If you listen to it, picture the humid night air, the cicadas as lound as they have ever been, the laughter of children, the glow of a bonfire, and the hum of the sweet conversation. Imagine the fireflies pff in the distance and the company of people you would give your life for.

Wilderness

Music has a way of making our seasons. these are the ones marking mine right now.
