top 6 BEST early parenting books

I’m no longer in a season of having tiny infants in our home, but I wanted to pass along this list of my FAVORITE books that have helped shape the mother I am (or at least the one I strive to be). These books are all different and meet different needs, but if you’re heading…

what forgiveness is…and what it isn’t

My recent post about hardness of heart in marriage and the difficult work of marriage has raised a lot of questions on the issue of forgiveness. What exactly is forgiveness? I spent a number of years defining “forgiveness” incorrectly, and it had some fierce ramifications on relationships in my life. I once thought forgiveness was:…

keep it simple mama: our kids only need two things

I’ve never been good at gardening. Taking care of plants does not come naturally to me. What I really want is someone who understands the love language of nature to teach me what to do to keep my plants and flowers not just alive, but flourishing. It is easy to think that motherhood is like…

an open letter to a critic & 9 reasons I responded

Last night, just after folding the last few loads of laundry and putting the last kiddo to bed, I set my phone down to plug it in and noticed I had received an email. My blog alerts me each time I receive a comment and, although it was late at night and I shouldn’t have…

what “marriage is work” really means

When Matt and I were engaged I absolutely hated the idea that marriage would be “work”. Work had such a negative connotation with it and it totally made me itchy (that’s just my word for uncomfortable) to think about one another in that way. We were SO in love, right? Then this thing called life…

Psalm 18 says God makes darkness His canopy. Let Psalm 18 says God makes darkness His canopy.

Let that wreck you for a moment.

The very thing you and I run from, avoid and fear—the shadows, the silence, the suffocating dark—is where He chooses to dwell.

This isn’t the time to keep sleepwalking through life.

Evil is present. Fear is real. The world is unraveling at the seams.

But louder still is the very voice of God: I am here.

I want to encourage you: Don’t numb it. Don’t scroll past it. Don’t drown it out with lesser lights.

The darkness is not proof of His absence; it’s the very covering of His presence. He is here too, in the most unlikely of places.

So wake up.

Set your hope where it belongs—in the only One who conquered death itself.

The canopy that looms is obvious and heavy, but His nearness, goodness and power is weightier still.

The time is now, friends! It’s now!

It is time for:
	•	Holiness
	•	Worship
	•	Prayer
	•	Repentance
	•	Obedience
	•	Courage
	•	Truth
	•	Purity
	•	Love
	•	Unity
	•	Faith
	•	Endurance
	•	Awakening

The time is now.
I’m sure it’s AI…but I have no doubt that’ I’m sure it’s AI…but I have no doubt that’s what @charliekirk1776 would be saying right now.

Double down…on love, on grace, on forgiveness, on joy, on kindness and on speaking the gospel to every tongue, every tribe and every nation…until our Savior returns.

Tag a friend, tag a loved one…spread this message far and wide until the darkness shutters!!!!!

#matteringthings
When the air turns to lace and holy gets through, When the air turns to lace and holy gets through, don’t rush to stitch it all back together.

Let the veil do its work.

The winnowing reveals what remains: faith, hope, love.

We aren’t fighting flesh and blood—and in Christ, we are not without hope.

While the window is open, speak Jesus.

Text the friend.

Tell your story.

Open Scripture.

Offer a meal and the gospel that saves.

Eyes up. Heart awake. Hope anchored in Jesus.
