DIY: Barn Door Dresser
This past week I sold my old dresser and decided to turn an old bookshelf (that I got for free!) into a barn door dresser. I wanted something unique and rustic and I thought the idea of adding barn doors would be an fun upgrade!
I now have a place for all of my little items to be separated! Lord knows I love to have things organized! I loved the latch for two reasons…I think it looks good AND I can keep the kids out of my things!!! 🙂
Yes I know that the handles and those top beams are uneven…but I’m okay with that! 🙂 I think it makes it look more rustic…errr….I messed up and I didn’t want to fix it so I’m telling myself it’s amazing that way! 🙂
HOW TO:
I started by getting some 1×3 beams from Lowe’s (which they cut for me there for free). I laid them all out on the ground on my back patio.
Wood screws (1 1/4) to make it all stay in place, Minwax wood stain (color in Provincial) to get that barn wood color, black hardware to hold the doors on, and some chunky gate pulls (they were silver and I spray painted black).
And then I made my sweet husband help me carry it all the way upstairs so I could set it up!
I love how it turned out! Even with all of the imperfections and mess ups! It was a much simpler project than I had thought it would be and turned out just how I was hoping it would!
