boasting in weakness…

It very well could be that one of the best reasons to start a blog is the constant reminder and accountability that I’ve made it known to the world I am determined to speak about my own imperfection to be a living testament of God’s grace. My goal is to consistently speak of my own imperfection hidden in…

At this stage in my life, I’ve learned that the At this stage in my life, I’ve learned that the best leaders are often the most hesitant ones—
the ones who know what it’s like to be at the very bottom.

It’s not fear that holds them back, though that may be present too...

It’s understanding the weight of what leading requires.

They know it’s not about control or being in the spotlight—

it’s about sacrifice.

True leadership carries people’s stories, their hurts, their hopes, their hearts and realizes that choices ripple far beyond self.

Real leaders don’t run toward recognition;
they bow toward responsibility...and before Jesus.

They serve. They go low in order to help others rise.

Like a shepherd risking his life for his flock,
good leaders serve and sacrifice for those they steward—not use those they lead.

They stay loyal when it’s costly,
take blame that isn’t always theirs,
and serve consistently, often without applause.

That’s the mark of true leadership:
when ambition falls away and surrender rises to the surface.

If you feel the pull to lead—pause.

Count the cost.

Ask God to make you tender, compassionte, steadfast, and most of all, servant-minded.

—-

If you’re local, come join us tonight at our first ever The Time Is Now worship night!! See my story “worship” for details!

Comment “MATURE” and I’ll send you a free guide on becoming a mature leader—
whether you lead in a classroom, a church, or a kitchen table—this guide is for you.
“Do not take to heart all the things people say, “Do not take to heart all the things people say,
lest you hear your servant cursing you.
Your heart knows that many times
you yourself have cursed others.”
(Ecclesiastes 7:21–22)

It’s humbling, isn’t it?
How easily we become both the wounded and the wounding.
How quickly our words can become fetters —
chains that quickly bind us and those around us.

A few careless words, spoken in haste,
can spoil the beauty of something that once smelled like grace.

“Dead flies make the perfumer’s ointment give off a stench; so a little folly outweighs wisdom and honor.”
(Ecclesiastes 10:1)

Gossip feels harmless...until it isn’t.
It usually starts small — a sigh, a rolled eye, an unkind comment, a shared frustration —
but it quickly sours the room.

Wisdom reminds us to get the dead flies out quickly...because...well, dead flies stink. Make the call, revisit the conversation…and make things right as soon as possible.

And what about when you’re the one being gossiped about?

When the rumor makes its way back to you
and your first instinct is to turn inward, run away, defend, or fight?

Ecclesiastes offers something better—it’s not easy…but it’s simple:

“If the anger of a ruler rises against you,
do not leave your place, for calmness will lay great offenses to rest.”
(Ecclesiastes 10:4)

What this is saying is don’t rush to prove your innocence.
Don’t match their tone, their energy, or their emotion. Don’t abandon your peace.
Stay…right where you are.

Let calmness, peace, and love — not reaction — be your defense.

Wisdom sometimes looks like choosing “Bethlehem”, choosing meekness, choosing softness…choosing forgiveness. It’s maintaining composure, being slow to anger, and resisting the temptation to retaliate.

The way of world would tell you to rise up, but the way of Christ invites us to let peace have the last word.
Let calmness be the fragrance that fills…and that is, no doubt, a much sweeter scent than dead flies.

Let love be the aim.

Lately, life feels like a wild collage of everythi Lately, life feels like a wild collage of everything all at once—
Early homeschool mornings and late night football lights.

Doctor appointments and super late-night studying with my teens. College applications, heartfelt conversations, homecoming celebrations…and two little fishes to add to the mix…it’s all of the things all at once.

Worship night prep, birthday parties, setting up a pumpkin patch, time with friends, cooking/cleaning, and long drives for a myriad of reasons!

Even a funeral—reminding me again how short this all is.

The photos never tell the whole story, but they help me remember to see it all.

To look up.

To notice.

To catch a sunset instead of a phone scroll.

To make eye contact instead of checking notifications.

To sit beside the ones who are right in front of me and just be there.

There’s a very real passion to write, to create, to show up here and share words that matter—
but there’s an even stronger passion to steward what’s right in front of me. Wow, just wow. What a gift it all is.

I keep praying for the Lord to gift me the time and capability for both loves (creating content and being faithful with all that’s on my plate) but when they hang in limbo I will always, always choose my family first.

So that’s what I’m practicing.

Presence.

Priorities.

In the ordinary, the chaos, the messy, the beautiful blur of these days.

We are packing up to drive out of town for yet another football game 2 hours away after just being at another last night too …then back home late tonight to get Quinn ready for oral surgery early tomorrow morning, then out with friends tomorrow night and prepping for the worship night on Sunday!!!!

I’d love to know what you all have going on this weekend! If you’re local—-I sure hope the worship night is on your list too!!! 🙌🏼🙏🏻

Hey friend, If you want to live a life that Hey friend,

If you want to live a life that’s truly blessed — the kind that stays steady and full no matter what’s happening around you — guard where you walk and who you listen to.
Don’t let your steps follow the patterns of people who live without God’s wisdom,
or let your heart grow hard and cynical because of the noise around you.
You were made for more than that.

Instead, make the words of the Lord your home.
Let His truth be where your heart runs when you’re weary,
the thing that brings you joy and direction.
Think on His words through the day and into the night —
let them shape your thoughts, your choices, your peace.

When you do, your life will grow deep roots —
like a tree planted beside a flowing stream.
Even when the sun scorches and the ground cracks,
you’ll still draw life from what’s unseen.
You’ll bear fruit in season — maybe not right away,
but in the time God appoints.
Your leaves won’t wither when hardship comes.
What He leads you to will not be wasted.

But when people turn away from Him,
their roots dry up.
They drift like dust carried by the wind —
nothing steady to hold them.
They have no ground to stand on when truth is revealed,
no belonging among those who live in righteousness.

But you — you are seen.
The Lord knows your path.
He watches over every step you take.
He guards you, and He keeps you.
The way you walk with Him will endure,
while every other road eventually falls away.

Hold fast, friend.
Stay planted beside the stream.
You are rooted in something that cannot be shaken.
