12 ways pain makes you stronger

I’ve been thinking a lot about this topic lately. Not only because of the need to process things that have happened and are happening in my own life, but also as I love and encourage others who have openly shared their stories with me. So often I want to remove the hardship or eliminate the…

facing my giants in scottsdale, az

When I was little I used to wear my coat in every new situation and not take it off until I felt comfortable. On the first day of school, every single year, I would get sick and throw up from the nerves of starting over again and having to meet new people. Every time we…

when plans go wrong

We drove to Pasadena this morning to see the flower floats from the Rose Bowl parade. When we got there we saw the lines were so long and we were short on time. My mom was with us and she had a flight to catch. As the clock kept clicking down & the line stopped…

Thoughts for today: The gospel was never meant t Thoughts for today:

The gospel was never meant to be only about getting to heaven when we die.
It’s also about bringing heaven here…while we live.

In every conversation, every relationship, every response, every situation.

Salvation is a gift of grace we could never earn,
but what we do with that gift still matters.

Because one day, so much of what we’ve chased—
the striving, the proving, the performing, the collecting—
allll of it will fade.

All the things that once looked shiny or safe
will rust, rot, or burn.

But…love will remain.

Faith will endure.

And only what was rooted in Him, will last.

We weren’t saved to survive this life.
We were saved to steward it.

To live fully awake, fully alert, to the eternal in the midst of the ordinary.

To make the most of every moment, every day, every season we’ve been given—

To long for what will never die.

It’s possible to believe in Jesus
and still waste the life He’s given—
to spend it protecting, comparing, or distracting ourselves…instead of investing it in what matters most.

But it’s never too late to begin again.

To reorient our loves.

Live for the mattering things.
Notes from my journal: Hannah— a woman grieved Notes from my journal:

Hannah—
a woman grieved by what she didn’t have,
yet unwilling to let despair take root.

She carried her hurt…and her heart…straight into the presence of God
and dared to believe He would meet her there.

She didn’t hide her pain or try to pretend it wasn’t there.

Instead, she prayed with her WHOLE self — grieving, tears, longing, ache.

Some likely would have accused her of being too emotional, of feeling too much, or, worse still, of lacking faith.

Some likely told her some pithy advice on what could have prevented her sorrow, or blamed her for the infertility she was experiencing.

But those people would have been wrong.

Hannah didn’t lack faith, and her season of suffering wasn’t her fault. Her sorrow was ordained by God himself and is ultimately what led her straight into the presence of the Lord.

And the result…her life and story have encouraged thousands of women in understanding what it means to love God more than the things we want.

I see in her an active lament—— and a willful praise.

Hannah feels like home. She seems like someone I’d have enjoyed knowing.

I’m confident she would have been the kind of friend who would have walked by my side in my seasons of fire, would never have rushed past emotions, or thrown out careless, poorly timed Bible verses.

She likely would have been present in my years of infertility, in my season of betrayal, through false accusations, loss, utter ruin, fear, slander, and deceit.

And, better still, she would have likely taught me how to pray in the waiting, how to guard against all bitterness, how to worship even when my heart was bleeding, and how to hope in Him…no matter the cost.

I can imagine her encouraging me not to take my eyes off of Him, to trust Him because of His great, unending love, and reminding me that it is through suffering that prayer becomes more valuable than oxygen.

My guess is she had no idea how many lives her faithfulness would impact.
My guess is…we don’t either.
But maybe that’s the point.

We’re not meant to see all the fruit—
only to keep planting seeds of faith,
trusting that what takes root in us
will one day give life to someone else.
Our first ever “the time is now” worship night Our first ever “the time is now” worship night…

“Will you not revive us again,
that your people may rejoice in you?” Psalm 85:6

It’s a cry for renewal—a prayer that God would restore His people’s hearts so that their joy would once again be found in Him.

Sunday night was an attempt to do just that. It was incredibly healing, a little raw, and, dare I say, holy.

We gathered on our friends’ field, under the night sky to lift our eyes and hearts to Jesus—
to worship, to repent, to remember, to be reconciled.

And He was faithful.

Fathers prayed for their families.
Women reconciled with one another.
Kids stood beside their parents, watching and learning what it means to seek the Lord together.

We took communion and remembered that it is faith alone by grace alone.

It wasn’t about a church name, a platform or anything fancy. It was dirt, a sunset and a few string lights…but to me, it felt like a tiny slice of heaven.

Our intention was to make it about Jesus alone—for He is alive, present, worthy…and soon returning for His bride.

The time really is now.

To love.

To forgive.

To walk in humility and holiness.

To fight FOR one another, not against.

To be the light of Christ in a dark world.

Lord, let what began here take root in every home, every family, every heart.

If you missed the first one and want to come to the next, DM me or leave a comment here…I’ll be sure to get you on the invite list!

I know the ache that comes with waiting— when I know the ache that comes with waiting—
when you keep praying
and it feels like heaven isn’t answering.

When you lie awake,
your thoughts won’t settle,
and your heart feels worn thin.

But listen…
you can still cry out to Him.
You can ask Him to see you,
to lift your head,
to bring light back to your eyes again.

Even here,
you can trust His unfailing love.
You can believe that He will be good to you again.
You will sing.
You will rejoice in His salvation.

Joy is still coming—
yes the pain is enormous,
but He is who He’s always been.

Hold on, friend.
You are NOT forgotten.
He hears you. He is with you.

And one day soon you’ll look back and say,
“The Lord has been good to me.”
