Lately In Photos….

With all of the summer fun, organizing and cleaning the house, guests in town, a couple of trips coming up and trying to avoid social media I haven’t made much time at all for blogging. So, I thought I’d share some photos from our days together. We are expecting more company this afternoon!!!  Cannot believe…

A Weekend Unplugged |Athleta Swimsuit

This past weekend we decided to leave our phones at home and simply be together as a family. I was really surprised at how often I thought about my phone and how many times I caught myself thinking about checking something, or looking something up. I don’t believe in any way that technology should…

The Princess Turns Double Digits

Our little princess has just turned 10! I can hardly believe it! People used to always tell me that I should enjoy these little years because the time just flies by…and they were exactly right! I love to watch her grow but it is unbelievably hard too…I just want to bottle up as many…

the best gift: awake again at 3 a.m.

Why Am I Awake? Last night, like so many nights of late, I woke up while it was still dark. I quickly ran through the mental checklist. What’s wrong with me? Am I sick? Is it too hot? Too cold? Did I hear something? Is it too bright? Are the kids okay? For the love………….what…

15 confessions from a pastor’s wife

I’m only one wife to one pastor. And since it’s safe to assume that every single pastor’s wife is different from the next, it is clear I cannot in any way write this for the whole lot of us out there. I honestly believe there could be way more we pastor wives have in common than…

Fast and Fancy on Father’s Day

I love it when I go through to edit pics and I find little gems like this one. My “photographer” decided to come out from behind the camera to give a sweet hug and help me know where to stand! 🙂 He loves to coach me and often has great input.  I honestly think he…

Lately, life feels like a wild collage of everythi Lately, life feels like a wild collage of everything all at once—
Early homeschool mornings and late night football lights.

Doctor appointments and super late-night studying with my teens. College applications, heartfelt conversations, homecoming celebrations…and two little fishes to add to the mix…it’s all of the things all at once.

Worship night prep, birthday parties, setting up a pumpkin patch, time with friends, cooking/cleaning, and long drives for a myriad of reasons!

Even a funeral—reminding me again how short this all is.

The photos never tell the whole story, but they help me remember to see it all.

To look up.

To notice.

To catch a sunset instead of a phone scroll.

To make eye contact instead of checking notifications.

To sit beside the ones who are right in front of me and just be there.

There’s a very real passion to write, to create, to show up here and share words that matter—
but there’s an even stronger passion to steward what’s right in front of me. Wow, just wow. What a gift it all is.

I keep praying for the Lord to gift me the time and capability for both loves (creating content and being faithful with all that’s on my plate) but when they hang in limbo I will always, always choose my family first.

So that’s what I’m practicing.

Presence.

Priorities.

In the ordinary, the chaos, the messy, the beautiful blur of these days.

We are packing up to drive out of town for yet another football game 2 hours away after just being at another last night too …then back home late tonight to get Quinn ready for oral surgery early tomorrow morning, then out with friends tomorrow night and prepping for the worship night on Sunday!!!!

I’d love to know what you all have going on this weekend! If you’re local—-I sure hope the worship night is on your list too!!! 🙌🏼🙏🏻

Hey friend, If you want to live a life that Hey friend,

If you want to live a life that’s truly blessed — the kind that stays steady and full no matter what’s happening around you — guard where you walk and who you listen to.
Don’t let your steps follow the patterns of people who live without God’s wisdom,
or let your heart grow hard and cynical because of the noise around you.
You were made for more than that.

Instead, make the words of the Lord your home.
Let His truth be where your heart runs when you’re weary,
the thing that brings you joy and direction.
Think on His words through the day and into the night —
let them shape your thoughts, your choices, your peace.

When you do, your life will grow deep roots —
like a tree planted beside a flowing stream.
Even when the sun scorches and the ground cracks,
you’ll still draw life from what’s unseen.
You’ll bear fruit in season — maybe not right away,
but in the time God appoints.
Your leaves won’t wither when hardship comes.
What He leads you to will not be wasted.

But when people turn away from Him,
their roots dry up.
They drift like dust carried by the wind —
nothing steady to hold them.
They have no ground to stand on when truth is revealed,
no belonging among those who live in righteousness.

But you — you are seen.
The Lord knows your path.
He watches over every step you take.
He guards you, and He keeps you.
The way you walk with Him will endure,
while every other road eventually falls away.

Hold fast, friend.
Stay planted beside the stream.
You are rooted in something that cannot be shaken.
Over the past few years, our family has visited a Over the past few years, our family has visited a lot of churches.

Each one had its own personality—different worship styles, teaching approaches, and leadership structures.

But one thing began to stand out to us the more we visited:
Some churches know and teach the Word of God incredibly well… and yet, they do not seem to know how to honor one another, and they do not acknowledge the existence of the Holy Spirit.

They may be Bible-believing churches with solid biblical statements of faith—and yet consistently live in ways that are opposite to the Word they claim to defend.

If you look at the fruit of the Spirit—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control—and then imagine their opposites… that’s often what you find.

And the heartbreaking part is that their theology is usually sound.

The words are right. But the power source must be considered.

Somewhere along the way, we’ve believed that knowing about God is the same as walking with Him. Abiding in Him is different than being a part of a moral, self-reliant intellectual institution.

Without the Holy Spirit, all our right thinking still leads us wrongly.

There are only two kingdoms available to us.

If we are not abiding in the Holy Spirit, there is only one other source of power we can draw from.

And our own human effort—no matter how noble—always falls under the wrong one.

Maybe what’s missing in the modern church, and our hunt to find a good one, isn’t doctrine, ministry opportunity, structure or strategy.

Maybe what’s missing…is the Spirit.

I am praying for those of you in a season of looking for a church. I know how challenging it can be. But don’t choose a church simply for the kids ministry, the building or the entertainment…be wise as serpents in the shepherd you choose to sit under. If the Holy Spirit is not welcomed, there’s only one other power source available…and it’s not holy.

🕊️ “Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit, says the Lord.” — Zechariah 4:6
Waiting can feel like a holding cell. Like life Waiting can feel like a holding cell.
Like life was put on pause.
Like maybe God has forgotten.

Joseph. I really like him. I’m sure he knew that feeling. (He is someone I am excited to meet in Heaven.)

He was wrongfully imprisoned, and forgotten by from Pharaoh’s cup-bearer. I wonder what his thought life and prayer life were like in those years.
(Genesis 40:14-15, 23)

Moses likely knew that feeling too.
He reminded Israel that their forty years in the wilderness were not wasted years, but I am sure at times he questioned.

God was humbling them, teaching them dependence, shaping their hearts to trust His Word., but that probably wasn’t easy.
(Deuteronomy 8:2-4)

Seasons of waiting often feel unjust or…endless.

But I know this deep down and I refuse to believe anything else, this season (and others like it) are not ever meaningless.

God often does His deepest work in hidden years—as He is forming character, teaching reliance, preparing us for what lies ahead.

He is forging in us something eternal, and although it’s east to lose sight of that end we must not give in to the lie that the season of waiting is worthless.

If you’re like us, and are waiting on the Lord for something right now—
for healing, for reconciliation, for provision, for a prayer to be answered—
remember that God’s timing is not careless.
His delays are not denials.
What feels like an unanswered prayer is most certainly preparation.

You (we) are not forgotten.
You (we) are being purposefully formed.
We can trust Him.
