Practical Fitness Perspective: From the Emergency Room

When I began the journey to enter the 2015 Labrada Spokesmodel competition, I had to create a new plan to get my body to the next “level.” I mapped it all out on a calendar. I knew what foods I would eat and when I would eat them. I planned what time of the day…

My neighbor, who I adore, came home the other day while the kids and I were playing outside. While we were chatting she began pulling out of the trunk of her car numerous laundry baskets FILLED with dirty clothes! It took me a minute to realize what she was doing, but as soon as it…

Little Black (Rodeo Drive Worthy) Jumpsuit

The first time I wore this little jumpsuit it was for a girls day out with one of my dearest friends, Natalie, in Beverly Hills. To say I love this girl is a total understatement! She’s one of my all time favorite people. It was right around my birthday and we wanted some time together…

“Did You PLAN To Have All Of Those Kids?” Our Story…Part 1

When I met my husband Matt, I had about 3 semesters left to finish my college degree. Although I was living back in Albuquerque at the time, I knew in order to finish my degree most quickly it would mean me going back to Oklahoma to finish off where I had started. I knew as…

Making Old Things New…

Last year, we had an extremely tough year. Some very unexpected turns in events, most of which were completely out of our control, left us with little sleep, a lot of stress and some very emotional days. This new “hobby” of mine began one day when my heart was heavy and my house felt…

Today we left our CupKate at college. I believe n Today we left our CupKate at college.

I believe now I understand what the phrase “lovesick” means — to ache with a longing born from love so deep it both hurts and heals at the same time. We walked away proud, grateful, and undone all at once.

Nineteen years of ordinary days led us here — days that, at the time, didn’t feel like they were building to anything this monumental. They were filled with laundry piles, ballet buns, lost leotards, late-night talks, homework at the kitchen table, and countless makings of morning iced-coffee together. And yet, each one was a stitch in the fabric of her story…and mine.

If I have any bit of encouragement from this season I am in it’s to treasure your child, right in the middle of the mess and to keep first things first. Hold them close, speak life into them, pray like crazy over them, and let the little frustrations fade into the background.

One day, you’ll walk them into their dorm room, hug them tight, and drive away. And in that moment, you won’t care about the stains on the carpet, the marker on the wall or the forgotten homework assignments.

You’ll care that you loved them well, pointed them to Jesus, and treasured the gift they’ve always been.

When they’re small the days are long, but the years are so so so short — so keep your eyes steady and fixed on what matters most.

For those, like me, closing a beloved chapter I hope you know it’s okay to grieve. Don’t let anyone tell you to stuff it away, hide it or not feel. Let it out, let it be big, and allow yourself to lament. Change is hard. Letting go is hard.

But there’s room for it all—letting go means allowing yourself to be lovesick—holding both the joy and the grief together…simultaneously.
💕💕
I cannot even keep it together with these goodbyes I cannot even keep it together with these goodbyes. Someone speaks her name and I just lose it. I’ll tell myself to just hold it in but it’s truly hopeless…so I am pretty much just crying all of the time now.

Last ballet class was this morning…before we take her to TCU on Tuesday. All I can picture is the very day she first put on her first pair of ballet flats and pressed her little nose against the window to watch the “big girls” dance. This whole “sending them off” is for the birds. 😭 I know as mamas we prepare for this and I know this is exactly where the Lord has her, but goodness, this transition is not easy.

For all the mamas taking their first to college…you have my whole heart. 💔

I don’t like this part of parenting one bit…🥹

To @premiereballetacademy you are such a beautiful family to us all. Your love, compassion, and kindness is unmatched. What I love most is that your striving for excellence never surpassed your heart to love the whole person. Mrs. Melissa you are truly incredible and I thank the Lord for the myriad of ways you have blessed our family, not just our sweet Kate. The the girls of PBA—thank you for being such a gift to Kate. You’re like my own daughters too and I thank the Lord in every memory of you all!!

If you’re local and looking for a studio that genuinely keeps first things first, you cannot go wrong at @premiereballetacademy!

You know something that blows my mind? Studies s You know something that blows my mind?

Studies show more people are afraid of public speaking than they are of dying. Let that sink in for just a second.

That means that this room I am in, with these women here…there is likely more people that would rather die than get up in front of people…

and yet…they said “yes” even though they were scared out of their minds.

They are choosing to do the thing they once promised they would never do.

That’s brave. And it’s incredibly inspiring.

My guess is, even if it’s not speaking in public, there’s likely something you know God is calling you to do and you’re terrified to say yes.

You’ve been hesitating, waiting, hoping that little nudge you have buried deep and tried to ignore would just go away.

But it keeps nagging. Keeps coming back up.

If that’s you I want you to know this: God has always been in the business of calling the unlikely to do the impossible.

He’s not looking for perfect; He’s looking for surrendered hearts, humble souls, that trust Him more than their fear.

This is where He has me right now. He’s asking for me to let go and trust that His way is better…and my fear no longer serves me.

What is it that has you scared out of your mind right now? Is there something? If not, then good for you!

But if so…also good. Actually, no, that’s even better. That just means you’re in the perfect place for Him to show up bigger than you’ve ever seen before.

Go ahead, come with me…let’s take the next step.

It’s time to move.

It’s time to do the thing you’re terrified to do… because your obedience might just be the next big breakthrough.

Our comfort zones are way overrated.

He called you. He’ll equip you.

And He promised to never leave you.

Let’s be brave friends. 💕

DM me and share what you’re afraid of—I’d love to pray for you! #ccc25
