What Are We Really Chasing?⁠ ⁠ Everybody wants What Are We Really Chasing?⁠ ⁠ Everybody wants three things:⁠ Purpose. Love. Connection.⁠ ⁠ We crave them so deeply that we often spend our lives chasing after other things we think will give us the same result—success, approval, money, security. But without those three things, everything else is just an endless pursuit of nothingness.⁠ ⁠ Here’s the thing: we think we’re in control. We think we call the shots. We structure our lives, plan for the future, and grip tightly to the illusion that we can manage it all.⁠ ⁠ And then tragedy hits.⁠ ⁠ A loss. A diagnosis. A betrayal. A storm we didn’t see coming.⁠ ⁠ Suddenly, we realize how little control we truly have. It’s unsettling. Eye-opening. Even painful. But here’s the paradox: we’re invited to find freedom in losing control.⁠ ⁠ Freedom in knowing we were never meant to bear the weight of being in charge.⁠ Freedom in trusting the One who holds everything in His hands.⁠ Freedom in finding purpose, love, and connection not in what we chase, but in the God who already pursued us.⁠ ⁠ Jesus said, “Come to Me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28). When we let go of our desperate grasp for control and surrender to Him, we discover what we were truly made for.⁠ ⁠ 💛 Purpose: Knowing our lives matter because we’re part of God’s greater plan.⁠ 💛 Love: Unshakable, unconditional, freely given by the One who is love itself.⁠ 💛 Connection: To God, others, and the deepest parts of who we are created to be.⁠ ⁠ The wake-up call of tragedy is painful, but it also opens our eyes to what truly matters and what an amazing gift that is! I want to encourage you to not waste your life on an endless pursuit of nothing. Take inventory. Really step back and look at what you’re chasing after. Let go, lean in, and find freedom in the One who holds all things together.⁠ ⁠ What are you holding onto that you need to surrender today? What do you need to let go of? You Need…⁠ ⁠ Pain to teach you perseverance. You Need…⁠ ⁠ Pain to teach you perseverance. (James 1:2-3)⁠ Defeat to reveal God’s grace. (2 Corinthians 12:9)⁠ Solitude to draw you closer to Him. (Psalm 46:10)⁠ Struggle to build your strength. (Philippians 4:13)⁠ Suffering to deepen your faith. (1 Peter 5:10)⁠ Obstacles to shape your character. (Romans 5:3-4)⁠ Instability to trust His plan. (Proverbs 3:5-6)⁠ Loneliness to remind you of His presence. (Deuteronomy 31:6)⁠ Heartbreak to seek His healing. (Psalm 34:18)⁠ Uncertainty to lean on His wisdom. (Isaiah 55:8-9)⁠ Powerlessness to rely on His power. (2 Corinthians 12:10)⁠ ⁠ We all long for a smooth, pain-free life, but the truth is that growth doesn’t happen without challenges. You can’t master life by skipping steps. Each trial you face is a divine lesson lovingly designed to refine you for His greater purpose. God doesn’t waste a single moment of your struggle.⁠ ⁠ “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.” (Romans 8:28)⁠ ⁠ So today, pause and shift your perspective. Instead of resisting the hard things, what if you chose to embrace them with gratitude? not because the pain feels good, but because you trust the One who is working through it.⁠ ⁠ Be grateful for the process. Be grateful for the lessons. Be grateful that God loves you too much to leave you as you are.⁠ ⁠ Every struggle, every heartbreak, every unanswered question is shaping you into someone stronger, wiser, and more rooted in Him. Let’s Talk About Trauma Let me say this loud an Let’s Talk About Trauma Let me say this loud and clear: trauma doesn’t make you stronger. Trauma wreaks havoc on your nervous system. It disrupts your body, your mind, and your ability to function. It leaves scars—seen and unseen—and keeps you stuck in survival mode, hyper-vigilant and weary. To suggest that someone is stronger because of their trauma dismisses what they’ve endured just to survive. Yes, there’s a strength that comes from walking through trauma, but its not a strength anyone would choose. Trauma doesn’t make you stronger. But here’s what’s true: who we turn to in our trauma does. Healing from from trauma does. Healing takes courage. It takes effort. It takes the willingness to ask for help, to sit with the hard truths, to seek the Lord, and to slowly, bravely rebuild. Healing is where the strength is found—not in the trauma itself, but in the choice to connext, grow, and to keep going. I’ve endured trauma, and I won’t pretend it didn’t break me. It caused reactions in my body and mind that I still carry today. But I’ve also asked for help, done the work, and slowly learned to rebuild my life in ways that honor what we’ve been through. I’m not stronger because of the trauma. I’m stronger because of a Person. Psalm 34:18 says, “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” If you’re walking through the aftermath of trauma, let me encourage you: 🌿 You are not weak because it hurts. 🌿 Your worth isn’t defined by how quickly you “bounce back.” 🌿 Healing is hard and He desires your heart. It’s okay to ask for help. It’s okay to take your time. And it’s okay to acknowledge the pain while still holding on to hope. God sees you, loves you, and walks with you every step of the way. Let’s together stop telling people that trauma makes them stronger. Instead, let’s remind them that healing is possible, that they’re not alone, and that strength comes from the grace and courage to keep seeking the face of God. Who needs this reminder today? You Don’t Need More Time—You Need More Focus⁠ ⁠ Let’s be honest: we live in a world of constant noise. Notifications, endless to-do lists, social media, and the pressure to be everything to everyone. And when life feels overwhelming, the temptation is to think, “If I just had more time, I could get it all done.”⁠ ⁠ But the truth is, you don’t need more time. You need less distractions.⁠ ⁠ Ephesians 5:15-16 says, “Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.”⁠ ⁠ We’re called to live wisely, intentionally, and with focus—not scattered by distractions that pull us away from what truly matters. If our focus is divided, more time won’t solve the problem. What we need is clarity on what deserves our attention and the discipline to say “no” to what doesn’t.⁠ ⁠ Here’s the challenge:⁠ 🌿 What are the distractions pulling you away from your purpose?⁠ 🌿 Are you filling your days with what matters—or just filling them?⁠ ⁠ Matthew 6:33 reminds us of where our focus should always begin: “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” When we focus on God first, everything else starts to fall into its proper place.⁠ ⁠ This week, I challenge you to take inventory of your distractions. What’s stealing your time, energy, or focus that isn’t helping you grow in your walk with God or align with your purpose? Maybe it’s saying “no” to mindless scrolling, unnecessary commitments, or the pressure to do it all.⁠ ⁠ Focus isn’t about doing more—it’s about doing what matters most. Let’s be people who choose wisely, live intentionally, and seek first the things that have eternal value.⁠ ⁠ What’s one distraction you can eliminate this week to refocus on what truly matters?
