Last month was our 14th wedding anniversary! I cannot believe it’s been that long! I thought I’d share just a couple of my favorite pics from our night out together. And a little bonus photo down below of what most of my pics look really like! 🙂

We went to eat at a restaurant in Orange, CA that overlooked the entire county! We could see the lights and the water and even the Disney fireworks show that happens every night at 9pm! It was perfect weather that night and the food was amazing!

One of my favorite things to do each year on our anniversary is to remember all of the details that we can from the day we got married. From getting ready to me feeling so nervous I thought I might throw up, finding out someone had forgotten the flowers, to the sweet note given to me by my love just before I walked down the isle, the candles melting far too fast resulting in the stage being lit on fire (uh, ya, that really happened)…to Matt’s cousin almost passing out…to our first kiss as a married couple…and the reception we never got to sit down at, the toasts that lasted forever, my brother our DJ, my sisters crazy hair, our first dance, the awkward and slightly inappropriate dancing (caught on video) of some of the guests…and the kid that wanted a “souvenir” from our wedding and decided to reach into my nicely fixed hair to steal a bobby pin from my up-do…yes, I’ll calling you out Dillon Ford!!!!! 🙂 Our borrowed getaway car that the owner wanted returned that very night (c’mon, really????)…having to drop off that car absolutely exhausted and then finally getting to our room not having eaten anything at all!!!! We still laugh at how we literally considered driving through McDonalds in our wedding attire because we were starving…

There were so many things that went wrong, that weren’t ideal or that we would for SURE change if we could do it all over again. But we look back now and realize that some of our most favorite memories from our wedding day are the ones that didn’t go right! Isn’t it funny how life works like that? The things that horrify us now become some of the most treasured memories.

Remembering the imperfections from our wedding day give me perspective of how to deal with the here and now. I know that the things that get to me now will one day be a gold mine of memories…the messy house, the dishes in the sink, the laundry that never ever ended, the crazy kids and the volume inside our home, the forgotten tasks and the silly fights we all get into…one day we will look back and cherish it all.

So today, I am going to choose to lighten up…I’m not even going to edit this post before I publish it. I’m not going to fret about the toys on the floor or the fact that I haven’t yet showered for the day. I’m now going to rush over to the kids school and after that probably wander around Target for a bit while I neglect my real  “to-do” list… Happy Tuesday everyone!
