It baffled me. Having 5 kids within 6 years I couldn’t imagine how this would be possible.
“But what do they do?” I would ask again and again.
“They just play!” was always the answer.
There were a LOT of hurdles I had to get through to get to the point where I am now being a homeschool mom, but one of the biggest was that I just couldn’t imagine leaving my younger ones to aimlessly roam the house to “play” while I focused all of my attention on the bigs.
_________
I recently began to make a list of companies I would like to partner with. Companies of products I currently use and love or companies whose products I have always wanted to use but haven’t yet had the money or the ability to.
One of the companies at the top of my short list is Reading Eggs. It’s one of the top 8 referred online instruction companies that my homeschool charter recommends, but it’s also one that we have been personally familiar with, and have desired to use, for quite some time.
When I started homeschooling I couldn’t wait to get signed up and as of last week we now have a year subscription for each of the kids!
Our youngest, Crew, does his lessons first thing after breakfast, which buys me time, and sanity, to focus on teaching the older kids (see below the before/after photo of what happened to our home prior to Crew starting each day with Reading Eggs…).
Then, as each child finishes their work they are allowed to play for a timed amount as well. Having something that motivates them to get through their school work AND something that actually continues their learning is a match made in heaven for me.
There are programs specifically for homeschooling and there are lessons for kids as young as two. The program has a simple placement test so that it can start at the perfect level for each age. There are easy navigation tabs, which makes changing users super simple for the kids, and little avatars where the kids can make their own selfie character. They are learning everything from phonics, to fluency, to vocab, to spelling, to comprehension…I honestly cannot say enough good things about this program.
Just last week I contacted Reading Eggs to find out if they are still offering the one month free trial and they are! To sign up for FREE click here. I would love to hear if you already use Reading Eggs or what you think after you sign up for the free month![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][cq_vc_beforeafter beforeimage=”10470″ afterimage=”10440″ autoslide=”0″ handletooltip=”Slide here for Before/After Reading Eggs :)” iconcolor=”#f9f2f6″][/vc_column][/vc_row]
